12 Weeks & Firsts
Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 09:44PM Hey baby.
You turned 12 weeks on Wednesday. I can't believe you've been around for that long. I also can't believe how much you're growing & changing. I'm so excited to see our lives unfold. I decided I need to start writing to you more so you can look back & learn about all the things you were doing at certain points of your life.
You have had a lot of firsts lately. There have been so many moments where I've thought, awwwww, this is first ________, so many that your daddy thinks I'm a little crazy.
You went to the pool for the first time.

It was really hot outside, so you weren't too happy. And when we got into the water, you went right to sleep. Every time I tried to let you play in the water, you got upset, so I just let you lie on my shoulder & rest. You slept the whole time we were there.

You went to an airport for the first time. And you met someone your own age for the first time. He & his mommy had a layover in Houston on the way back to their home in Venezuala, so we went to visit them. His mommy & I used to work together at a little Italian restaurant in Mississippi. He was born just a week before you.

Whenever one of you would get fussy, the other one would follow. You really started crying when I held him, and his mommy held you.

You went to the mall for the first time. Daddy needed his computer fixed. While he was doing that, you watched Mommy eat a salad in the food court. You didn't really love it until Daddy joined us & held you.

You started liking your Baby Bjorn. I've put you in it before, but you hated it, so it didn't last long. This time you loved it.

So off we went to Walmart. You were awake & watching everything until the very end, you passed out.

When we got home, you helped me put away groceries.

You had some other firsts that I don't have pictures of. Today you went to a childcare facility for the first time. You were happy until the last 10 minutes. Apparently you got fussy, and they tried to put you down to sleep, but you wouldn't calm down. I think it's because they didn't put you on your belly.
You went to your first parade. It wasn't planned at all. We went to your big brother's kindergarten orientation, & we didn't know there would be a parade to start it. It was really hot, and since I didn't know about it, I didn't bring the stroller. So we were both hot & tired with you in the sling. I fed you a few times with a bottle that I thankfully brought just in case. But you spent most of the time probably confused about the heat, all the people & all the noise. During the parade you saw your first horsies. And your first pile of horsie poop.
You were around your first crowd of people clapping at a talent show at your big brother's daycare. He thought it was really important for us to be there, but he forgot to tell us he wasn't even in it. You were startled a little the first few times everyone clapped, but you got used to it.
I think that's all for now. I'll likely continue to be a little crazy about recording your firsts, at least in my head. Next time, I'm going to talk about how you're behaving these days.
