What Were You Doing Ten Years Ago?
Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 12:24AM Wow it's 2010!!!
I graduated from high school ten years ago.
Ten years ago the whole world thought the world was going to end, including my father, who made us grow a garden & start raising rabbits.
Ten years ago, I still had never had a sip of alcohol.
Ten years ago, I was a virgin.

Back then, didn't we ask ourselves how we imagined our lives in ten years?
Ten years ago, I never dreamed I would be living in Texas, working in the field that I do, or that I would be pregnant & not married.
Ten years ago I was working in radio, being an amateur musician & photographer, and still pursuing acting. So I’m sure I thought in ten years I would be a famous actress, musician or voice over artist.
I gave up theater acting because throughout college I had to have a job, and it didn’t go over too well when I couldn’t be in any plays because my job never matched rehearsal schedule.
I gave up film acting because I decided I had a much better chance to get rich & then write, produce, direct & act in my own movies than to break into the movie scene as an actor.
I gave up radio when I started majoring in it & realized I could learn more by working in the field rather than being taught in class with equipment that no one used anymore.
I gave up being a musician when I ran out of time working my way through college.
My radio turned into restaurant work because it paid more. I am still in restaurants.
I am in Dallas because I hated Mississippi, and this was the quickest way out.
I could be a lot further in life, but if I was where I wanted to be in my career, I probably wouldn’t have met the boy, so I’m happy that I didn’t excel as quickly as I expected.
Now I love Dallas, my job, my boyfriend that isn’t my husband, and my baby.
What about you? What were you doing ten years ago?

Hi Jewel! I really enjoyed this one- So I thought I'd respond.
Ten years ago, I was in tenth grade.
I was head over heels for geometry, so I joined Mu Alpha Theta, the math club.
I was on the Academic team, as its weakest member, by far.
I was pretty sure I'd either become a math teacher or a band director.
Marching band was my biggest passion.
I had just gotten my braces taken off.
My best friend was Callie Clark.
I had only kissed one boy, ever.
I had never driven a car.
I had never heard an opera.
I practiced piano about 2-3 hours a day.
I weighed 105 pounds.
AND NOW, I'm 25, and I have a bachelor's degree in vocal performance.
My little family is my biggest passion.
My best friend is my former college roommate, Jessica.
I'm totally married (almost 3 years!), and loving it.
I've had a few car wrecks; they suck.
Opera is one of my great loves- I still want to be in a professional production one day.
I only practice piano about 2-3 hours a week, but I'm giving piano lessons about 12 hours a week, now.
I weigh 180. But hey, I'm 6 months preggo. Don't hate. :)
I wish you a great 2010, and I hope your next ten years find you happy and fulfilled. :)
Hey my lovely daughter - Ten years ago we had been in this place for about 2 years and I had high hopes of fixing it up, not fancy, but cosy and pleasant. Well, haven't finished yet, but I did get to paint 2 bedrooms last summer. Back then 10 years ago we were just getting over the Y2K scare and really laughing at the whole thing. No more rabbits but we still have a garden in the summers. Back then we were still getting used to Misssissippi and now my husband and I like it and are comfortable here, although maybe Isy is the only one of our children that likes it here and may stay. He'd better - he married a real southerner. No offense. Well, one more thing about 10 years ago: I still had 4 of our kids home. I miss them so it's great to get to visit...
Robin thanks for responding! When was it that voice became a passion of yours? Because that's something I remember about you. But maybe it was after I graduated. I am so glad you love your family. I wish you the best as well! To babies in 2010!
Mommy, do you guys still want to one day move back to Hawaii? Oh yeah, that's one thing that I forgot to say, ten years ago I imagined my being so rich by now that I would have already bought you a house in Hawaii. I had so many plans to financially take care of you & others that took care of me along the way. I still have time left. I miss you too!
